We all know that money talks, and in todays society it matters not to how many people are destroyed in the process for the sake of a dollar. Yes the crime of a sexual offender seems to be the key focus above all other crimes due to the scheme of fearmongering by the lawmakers who created restraints, and restrictions to further destroy not only the sexual offender in general but there family members also, for what mere votes. I applaud senator Biscola for her efforts to present a bill to place domestic violence offenders on a registry due to the fact that many children ages 0-17 each year lose their lives from domestic violence by gun shot, stabbing, or strangulation. Why is it that Legislators turn a blind eye to this, when in a sexual offense they preach on protecting children and public safety. When you look at Adam Walsh and Megan Kanka why are there lives different than the children that are killed each year by domestic violence. Maybe people that lost a child by domestic violence should ask there Legislator to why they voted this bill down.

This article was well written. The registry shouldn't exist, it does nothing. As a person on the list and abused myself, I never talked about it. I can barely remembered it when I was younger. It's hard to do certain things as I used to. Being told you can't do this or that but certain other people convicted of a crime can. It's also embarrassing to get into a relationship or be in one. It's kind of like a big slap in the face to me and for others. People not on the list should be concerned about other "lists" they make to fuel even more nonsense because I believe it's coming. The world is based on money and if anyone here has seen the movie Network (1976) know what I'm talking about. If you haven't, then you really need to see it. "The world is a corporation Mr. Beale, it's been like that since man crawled out of the slime."

In reply to <a href="https://www.narsol.org/2025/05/the-sex-offender-industry-follow-the-money/#comment-45901">Kyle</a>.

Plus in some states, once an offender there is always the possibility that the offender could cross over to another demographic of victim. In other words, senior abuser could switch to child abuser, or switch from male abuser to female abuser. In men maybe, as their sex drive is usually stronger that women. Plus their motives may be very different. Women on the other hand are more likely to do it to please a man in exchange for his acceptance. Granted there are exceptions to all things. It would be interesting if a Justice Major would do a theme paper on the differences between the sexes and their most common and least common traits. A deeper dive into motivations, and the effects of mental health issues on offenses and the rate of cross-over offenses.

Following the money trail is so wrong. Politicians were hired to do a job, not do what brings in the most money (campaign contributions). Registered Sex Offenders in many states are required to register for life. For the most heinous cases, I agree this is appropriate. However, the ones with no pornography involved, no inappropriate websites visited and for a first offense this is not good policy.

Some states/municipalities also state there is no way to be removed from the registry. What happens to the offender who does a complete change of life, never gets so much as a moving violation, and cannot afford a lawyer to study case law for exceptions??? They are banned from senior housing receiving federal funding, senior activities on park property and many other things. How is this fair to people who have been on the registry for more than 20 years and been compliant with all requirements? Why are they stripped of the right to life and liberty for life? The recidivism rate is way lower for sex offenders than murderers, yet are punished much more harshly. Not all of us can become actors like Danny Trujillo or bounty hunters like Dwayne "Dog" Chapman.

Here, here! It's always been about the money. Whey else would policies be perpetuated that defy all logic and scientific study. Scarce resources would be better spent in further developing and advertising safe, confidential PREVENTATIVE Minor Attracted Persons counseling and interventions BEORE someone offends and turns a child into a victim. Wouldn't it seem to make more sense than just waiting for a child to be harmed and then trying to clean up the mess and destroy lives? I think so. Time will tell if those in positions of power do likewise.
