Congratulations to Mr. Henry and his attorney for this long overdue victory.

The Alabama law that was the basis for this case is one among many inhumane laws and restrictions under which citizens forced to register must live. Depriving a child of contact with a parent who poses no danger to the child is state sponsored child abuse, and is traumatic to the entire family.

Thank you NARSOL for all that you do to raise awareness about the registry and for sharing this victory.

Legislators mandate that people once convicted of a sex offense participate in, and pay for, "treatment". When an individual successfully completes this "treatment" and is deemed no greater threat to commit a new sex offense than the general population (desistance), legislators ignore that and impose unreasonable ongoing restrictions on that person. If they believe the "treatment" works, then they should abide by its outcome and treat that person the same as someone who never committed such an offense. If they don't believe this "treatment" works, then they should abolish it and not force people to endure it and pay for it. As William F. Buckley, Jr. loved to quip, "Who says A must say B."

This is fantastic, though long overdue. Congratulations to the Plaintiff and to all that this decision can be applied to. Thank you NARSOL for being on top of all these things. As many who know me, I have fought USCIS on something not entirely different. They use the Adam Walsh law to deny offenders from sponsoring a spouse if the offender had an offense against a minor. In my situation, there were no minor children and as my wife at the time was in her early 60s, there were to be none. In the Alabama case, a minor did exist, however, he could demonstrate that no risk existed. The position of the USCIS does not even consider that there is no one at risk. This case has the potential to impact that process being applied. Thank you

Rather than cowardly, are they not afraid? Don't many people on the registry live in semi-terror? And often for good reason?

WWIDOC has been pulling that bull on WI offenders since the 1990s. I'd tell them it was wrong and to hire a lawyer but none did stating they feared retaliation thru revocation. Or they would say it was too expensive. But that means the extra expense of living separately. Usually for unconstitutional stuff like that the court makes the state pay the attorneys fees. Mostly I think offenders a cowardly by nature and that is why they take garbage from state actors.
